This cute little mare
belongs to Linda Vigen. Here are Linda's thoughts on her.
This mare I have is gonna be 5 now this year and she goes back
to Painted Lark and Azure Te, Three bars & Top Deck way back. About
45 training days on the barrels this summer and ranch ridden 2 yrs.
She's a great ranch horse, I used her a lot this summer at the river
ranch riding across the Little Missouri to get cattle back and in
the rough hills. I've ridden her a few times now this winter and
she's the same as when we quit last fall. I would have trained on
her a little more had I known her owner was going to sell her. I
actually hate to see her go but I have my 2 yr old gelding to ride
also and I get too stretched for time it seems.
Please contact Linda for more
information about this neat mare!

Moxis Smokey Too (Bart)
2001 AQHA Black Gelding
(Mito Commander, Smokey Duster Too, and Sonny Dee Bar bred)
Nov. 2005

March 2006

January 2006
Bart is a 2001 model black
gelding. He's been here since he was a four year old, and has
been used extensively for all aspects of ranch work since then. The
previous owners (he was bred, raised and started by Bette Wold) showed him in Western Pleasure, Reining,
Western Riding, and Trail. He's pretty relaxed with the sights and
sounds of the shows, and has been hauled, ridden and exhibitioned at some barrel
racings. Bart has a smooth gait and trots out nice and relaxed.
He's bred for speed, but has that show horse lope down to a "T."
We've roped and drug countless calves into the barn and to the fire.
He has quick speed to cattle and has been used a lot to treat sick
calves in the pasture. He'll track, rate and stop them like an
old pro, PLUS you can tie hard and fast, get off and treat them and
he'll hold them for you. The summer of 2006, Bart was used as
our "guest" horse. He was the horse that friends and family
rode- beginners, too! Bart is quiet and friendly and handles
himself nicely in the badlands pastures. He's got some grit
and try- he scrambles up anything we point him at. He crosses
water, mud, side hills- whatever. He's accustomed to dogs,
kids, tractors, 4-wheelers, stock trailers, horse trailers (he can
back off)... for his age, he's seen quite a bit. Bart is
currently trotting/loping a nice barrel pattern and finishing him
will be a snap with as broke as he is. He's bred to be a
barrel horse, for sure! This horse has many attributes and
lots of potential, but does have some "mischievous" quirks.
He can be cold backed after a long break, and has been known to hump
up. He's easy to pull up (or talk out of it), certainly not a
bronc and not evil, but he may not be suitable for inexperienced,
timid riders or small children. He seems to do this more for
fun than anything, as he doesn't do it with Perry or I. He has
never humped or bucked after he's warm or in the middle of a job.
Super easy to catch, load, shoe, etc. Will be in barrel
training with Connie Buck (Minot) during the winter of 2006-07.
